Renewed Strength

"But they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
they shall walk and not faint."
~ Isaiah 40:31

Last week my family and I enjoyed a delightful vacation. We spent time at Mackinaw City and on Mackinaw Island. It was such a refreshing time to be together. During our trip we walked through the historic forts and sites, through shops, and on the trails pictured in this post. As you can imagine, my feet were pretty sore by the time we drove home!

In our lives, there will be times when we grow weary. In the happy times (like vacation!) as well as the difficult seasons of life, we often grow tired. One of the incredible joys of walking in the ways of the Lord is that He renews us when we are weak. When our feet begin to drag, when we begin to worry, and when we are weary, God is with us to strengthen us.

"But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing
power belongs to God and not to us." ~ 2 Corinthians 4:7

I love this verse because it reminds us of the great treasure we have in Christ. He is our strength. We can't lean on ourselves. Our power comes from the living God. That's wonderful!

I have been recently feeling busy and a bit overwhelmed with work and school, so lying in bed before I fall asleep at night, I've prayed for God's strength and peace. I want to know His restfulness and joy in the midst of my business and weariness. He has answered my prayers and I have been able to complete much and have joy - through His strength, not mine. He upholds me and never leaves me alone.

"Fear not, for I am with you;
be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you,
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."
~ Isaiah 40:10

Let's never forget, that as we walk on the path of life, God is our strength. He will renew us as we look to Him and wait on Him. Let's mount up on those eagle's wings - by depending on the Lord's strength!
