The Gift of Life!

Have you ever thought about how amazing it is to be alive? To breathe fresh air…To be creative...To eat yummy food…To cry…To sing…To smell the sweet scent of flowers…To feel…To have relationships…To know God…To laugh…There is so much beauty in this gift of life God has given us! In Him we have life, breath, and all we need. "He Himself gives to all mankind life and breath and everything" (Acts 17:25b).

In our God, life is abundant. He makes "known to me the path of life" (Psalm 16:11a), is our "fountain of life" (Psalm 36:9b), "redeems your life" (Psalm 103:4), He will "keep your life" (Psalm 121:7), and so much more.

Enjoy your life today, knowing that it's a gift from God. Live it to the fullest! Enjoy it in the Lord, knowing that it's absolutely amazing to live for Him and in Him.

"I came that you might have life and have it abundantly." John 10:10b

Enjoying life with you,

The Hopeful Birds

I was sitting at my desk in my room yesterday when I heard two birds singing shrilly right outside of my window. It startled me because it has been such a long time since I have heard or seen birds. Winter in Michigan sends most of them south!

These little animals remind me of the hope we have in the goodness of God. The birds are singing with snow outside and fluttering their wings in spite of the bitter cold. For they have hope that Spring will come again, just as it always does.

We have similar hope in the Lord. In times of trial, we can depend on the Lord who doesn't change (Hebrews 13:8) and who will renew our hearts: "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you" (1 Peter 5:10).

There are three people I know who are facing the trial of sickness right now. A girl with a stomach infection…a teenager with cancer…a middle age man in a coma…While this time is very difficult for them and their families, they can have hope in their hearts because of Jesus Christ.

When we are facing difficult seasons of life, through the Lord, we can still sing. Like the birds singing in the midst of the cold and the snow, we have the hope of "Spring" in our hearts as we anticipate heaven and rejoice in the faithfulness of our God.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing,
so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope."
~ Romans 15:13

Hoping in Christ with you,

Psalm 91:1

"He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty."
~ Psalm 91:1

To be hidden in Christ is to abide.
It is sweet protection to be on the inside.
Held in His hand, kept safe and secure,
I know this is something that I must learn.
To abide in God is to be in Him.
To be in Him is to be safely hidden.
Forever secured, cherished, and loved.
Held tightly by my loving Father above.
It's a gift to belong to my God.
Someone to whom I shouldn't even be allowed to nod.
But He reached down and loves me fully,
So what more could I need to be satisfied completely.
Whenever I'm worried, discontent, or afraid,
There's One at whose side I need to stay.
Here I find life, fullness, joy, and more.
Only in the presence of God does my heart soar.
For He is good and His love is forever.
On Him I lean, for He will change never.
When my life, feelings, or seasons change,
My God will always be the same.
He is my Shelter and Shadow, too,
I'll rest in the One who is forever true.

My Hiding Place

Outside my window, the snow is swirling and blowing steadily all around the house and every once in awhile, a spray of snow clashes against the siding. It's around 1 degree Fahrenheit out there. Burrr…Despite the blizzard-like cold outside, here inside, it's toasty warm and I can hear the soft sound of heat gently circulating through the house.

Scripture tells us that God is our hiding place. David wrote, "You are a hiding place for me; you preserve me from trouble; you surround me with shouts of deliverance. Selah" (Psalm 32:7). When storms are swirling around us, we are hidden and protected by God. Whatever we may be facing in our lives, we can run to God, the one who hides us and protects us in His arms. This is indeed reason to rejoice! "But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you" (Psalm 5:11).

Although there may be storms swirling all around us, we have a hiding place in Christ. This is the best place we could ever be.

"You are my hiding place and my shield; I hope in your word."
~ Psalm 119:114

Hiding in Him with you,
Christina
